Plant Communities At The SRP: My Botanical Background
Studied SRP plants closely since 2001, the year I accidentally began learning all the plants here.
Branched out to 90 trails covering a lot of Southern California, recording 9,758 occurrences of 1,466 taxa as of 11/05, about half of the ~3,000 taxa in Southern California.
Beginning 12/04, I decided to concentrate on the SRP, for three reasons:
To try to find species recorded here that I had not previously seen;
To update its flora and analyze it in detail; and
To write a popular book on its plants, which is sorely needed
I've compiled detailed lists, most with Kay Madore, of ALL the plant taxa present on EVERY public trail. As of 11/05, there are 352 native taxa and 104 non-native taxa, a total of 456 taxa for the Trail Plant List.
